If your cat picture is OUT OF FOCUS it will be rejected. 9 out of 10 deleted images, are due to this.
On Alterations: If your image is more than 750x750 pixels, I will probably reduce it to a size I feel is more fitting (600x600 or so). If it is a large picture, and/or the kitty is a small portion of the image, and the remainder does not appear to be relative, I will probably crop it. If you have placed a © or other relevant mark on the picture, I WILL NOT alter the image other than resizing. If the filesize is over a certain amount (which is variable), I will adjust the compression slightly for a better size. This is not just to conserve my bandwidth, but everyone's overall. While a 3200x2400 lossless tiff is awesome for making prints, on the web, its a big DL on even broadband.
If your cat picture is OUT OF FOCUS it will be rejected. If it is blown out (over exposed) it will be rejected. If its blurry, it will be rejected... We get on the order of a hundred a week, and its -surprising- how many are properly in focus, or properly exposed, or framed... . (I hate yelling online, but I just went through the bank, and out of 300 submissions, nearly half of them were so blurry the cat was barely recognizeable. Please, take a moment before submitting, and look at your photo. Is it blurry? Is the cat out of focus? Sure, cats don't sit still, but a cute cat, versus a cute blur...)
Hey, for those of you who've been uploading pics pretty much direct from your digital cameras, and wondering why it takes sometimes a -FEW DAYS- for your picture to appear, while others are up within hours? Well, when I am approving, any picture that is -REALLY- big, I will put into a holding pattern, until my weekly set aside time to resize/alter the pictures that didn't make the cut due to size. One downside of all those spiffy 4 or 6 megapixel cameras, 3000x2000 images...
What is allowed? Kitten pictures, cat pictures, cute fluffy feline friends... Perhaps one day we'll have "Puppybreak" and "$YourFavoriteAnimalBreak" but, this, is KittenBreak. Please, only kittens, or Experienced Kittens. (Cats)
